Woman apparently shot in the back with a .22 calibre bullet in Penticton

The RCMP is investigating after a woman was apparently shot with a gun in Penticton.

Police said the woman “felt a sharp stinging feeling” on her back and heard something drop to the ground nearby.

Her husband later found a .22 calibre bullet on the ground.

Mounties were called about the incident at 8:30 pm on July 10.

It happened at the woman’s rural property in the 2000 block of Carmi Road.

She was walking outside when she felt the sting.

Police said she developed a red mark on her back but was otherwise unharmed.

Officers went to her home and searched in and around the property, but no suspect was found.

The investigation is ongoing.
