PG RCMP believe alleged armed home invasion was in an attempt to steal a dog

It’s believed that an alleged armed home invasion at a Prince George residence on Friday night was done in an effort to steal a dog.

The RCMP was called around 6:30 am on May 29 for reports of the crime in progress in the 1800 block of Tamarack Street.

Officers immediately attended the residence, at which point the suspects, a pair of 23-year-old men, tried to flee out the back door and were arrested a short time later.

“The subsequent investigation has led officers to believe that the two suspects entered the residence brandishing what appeared to be firearms and demanded the occupants hand over a dog,” said a release from the PG RCMP.

“The two adult male occupants refused. Police arrived and the suspects fled, leading to their arrest.”

When searching the residence after the arrest, police found a rifle, a BB gun that resembled an assault-style rifle and body armour, which are all believed to have been left behind by the suspects.

Those suspects have now been identified as Shayn Robert Bulmer and Dylon Sadillo McLemore, who are both facing multiple charges in connection to the incident.

Police say the two men know one of the occupants of the residence and that it was a targeted attack.

They also added that a toddler was sleeping inside the residence when the incident took place, but no one, including the dog, was hurt.

Bulmer and McLemore remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
