14-year-old’s out of control party wrecks West Van mansion

One Vancouver teenager will likely be grounded for a very long time following a party this past weekend.

According to West Vancouver Police, officers responded to several reports of an uncontrolled party at a home in the 2400 block of Ottawa Avenue on March 9, 2018.

Upon arrival, police encountered approximately 200 teens flooding out of the residence.

After confirming that nobody was injured or in need of medical attention, the police were able to track down the 14-year-old girl who was responsible for throwing the party.

Police say the party had quickly grown beyond the “intended size” causing extensive damage to the property before police arrived on site.

Walls, furniture and artwork had been destroyed and smashed totaling an estimated $20,000 in damages.

Police reports state the girl had booked the home online and paid for the rental through the unauthorized use of her parents’ credit card.

Investigators have been told that the girl’s family has agreed to accept financial responsibility for the damages and the homeowner will not be seeking any criminal charges against the teenager responsible.

A similar incident occurred in 2008 after a 16-year-old Australian highschooler threw a house party that landed him a $20,000 fine.

His interview with a local news station quickly went viral and reportedly inspired the infamous party film "Project X".
