(UPDATE: March 24 @ 10:30 am) - A teenager accused of stabbing a taxi driver in Vancouver last week has been officially charged.
According to Vancouver Police (VPD), the 16-year-old has been charged with assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, and assault causing bodily harm.
The VPD says he was granted bail and released from custody by the courts.
(Original story: March 19 @ 10:05 am) - A teenager is in custody after allegedly stabbing a taxi driver in Vancouver on Tuesday night.
According to the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), an off-duty officer witnessed the stabbing on the Downtown Eastside, near Main and Hastings, and alerted on-duty members.
They responded immediately and took the 16-year-old suspect into custody around 9:30 pm, police said.
The teenager, a Richmond resident, is currently in custody and facing charges in connection to aggravated assault.
The 59-year-old taxi driver sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was treated at hospital.
No further information has been released by the VPD at this time.
