(UPDATE: July 8 @ 9:25 am) - An American tourist who was struck by a cyclist while walking in downtown Vancouver has died from his injuries.
According to police, he died on July 5, six days after the 72-year-old and his wife were hit while crossing West Cordova Street at Richards Street.
The collision around 5:30 pm on June 29 knocked the man unconscious and he was rushed to Vancouver General Hospital for emergency surgery.
His wife suffered minor injuries and has recovered physically, while the cyclist was uninjured and remained at the scene.
The investigation into the fatal incident is ongoing.

The couple visiting from the United States was crossing West Cordova at Richards Street around 5:30 pm Tuesday when they were struck by a cyclist.
A statement from the Vancouver Police Department says the American tourists had the right of way in a crosswalk when they were hit by the eastbound cyclist.
The 72-year-old male lost consciousness and had to be transported to Vancouver General Hospital for emergency surgery.
He is said to be in stable but critical condition, while his wife was also taken to hospital for minor injuries.
The cyclist was not hurt and remained on the scene. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
