BC men arrested in Delta, charged for murder of ‘devoted father’ in Ontario

Peel Regional Police (PRP) have announced charges against a pair of young men from British Columbia who are accused of gunning down a man in broad daylight last month.

Following the murder of 51-year-old Harjeet Dhadda on May 14, Aman Aman and Digvijay Digvijay, both 21 years old, were identified as suspects and tracked back to BC.

Police say the pair were arrested in Delta on May 28 following an “intensive investigation.” Officers from the Delta, Abbotsford and Surrey police departments, as well as the RCMP, assisted the PRP with the arrest.

“This arrest is a testament to the unwavering perseverance and diligence of our homicide investigators,” said PRP Chief Nishan Deraiappah. “The strong collaboration with policing partners allows this family to take the next step toward justice for the loss of their loved one.”

According to PRP, Dhadda was approached by the suspects in a parking lot near Tranmere Drive and Telford Way in Mississauga shortly before noon on May 14.

The Brampton man was shot multiple times and later succumbed to his injuries in hospital, while the suspects fled in a stolen vehicle that was recovered shortly after the incident.

Dhadda’s daughter took to social media the day after the shooting, claiming her father was not involved in anything criminal and lived an “honest life.”

“He was an honest hardworking man, a devoted father and a law-abiding Canadian citizen who served his community with dignity for over 25 years,” Tanveer Singh Dhadda wrote. “He went beyond to help each and every person.”

Following their arrest, Aman and Digvijay appeared in Surrey court before being turned over to homicide detectives for transport back to Ontario. They attended a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on June 1.
