Two earthquakes struck off the coast of Vancouver Island this afternoon near Port Alice.
According to data from Earthquakes Canada, the first quake measured at 4.6 magnitude occurred 166 km west of Port Alice at about 1:30 p.m.
A second 5.3 magnitude quake hit just after 2:30 p.m. in a similar area roughly 189 km west of Port Alice.
Both earthquakes had a shallow depth of 10 km.

Emergency Info BC has stated that there’s no warning, advisory, watch, or threat, currently in place.
There has been a rash of earthquakes in the region, including a trio of powerful events off the coast this past October.
The first had a magnitude of 6.6, followed by a second of 6.8, then a 6.5 magnitude quake.
Despite the seismic events being powerful, they occurred far away enough from land that they caused little concern.
