Ferrari impounded after BC man rips through residential neighbourhood at 125 km/h

A Lower Mainland man will be without his luxury sports car for a few days.

According to police, the 48-year-old Surrey man was caught on radar driving his red Ferrari through a residential neighbourhood at nearly 75 km/h over the speed limit on Saturday.

The Langley RCMP explained that officers got an initial radar reading of 124 km/h on the vehicle, then lasered it again going 123 km/h just under 100 metres away.

The speed limit through the neighbourhood near Wagonwheel Crescent and 56th Avenue is 50 km/h.

“Driving at such excessive speeds in neighborhoods where families live and children play is completely unacceptable,” said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom

“We take these violations seriously and will continue our enforcement efforts to keep our roads safe.”

A release from the RCMP added: “This level of speed in a residential area poses a significant risk to public safety.”

The driver was fined $483 for excessive speeding and the Ferrari was impounded for seven days.
