A man was taken to hospital under the Mental Health Act and remains there in secure police custody after a concerning incident in Vancouver this morning.
In a media release, the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) explained that the man allegedly assaulted and urinated on a woman who was walking downtown early this morning.
The 31-year-old victim was walking near West Pender and Beatty Street shortly after 6 am when she encountered the naked man in his 20s on top of a parked car.
“The suspect began yelling, ran toward the victim, knocked her to the ground and urinated on her,” the VPD release explained.
Bystanders intervened to help the woman, calling 911 and restraining the nude suspect until officers arrived at the scene.
The VPD says a report will be forwarded to Crown counsel for consideration of criminal charges.
