A 40-year-old Ontario man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to the homicide of Tori Dunn earlier this month.
The BC Prosecution Service approved the charges against Adam Troy Mann this morning and he remains in custody at this time.
Tori Dunn, 30, was found critically injured by first responders at a residence in Surrey on June 16.
Despite their best attempts at life-saving measures, Dunn succumbed to her injuries.
Two days later, Dunn's father Aron took to social media to say that his daughter was the "victim to a home invasion" and "senseless violence."
While heading to the scene, police officers located Mann and took him into custody in relation to the homicide.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took over the investigation and worked closely with the Surrey RCMP, BC Coroners Service and Integrated Forensic Identification Section.
Their work led to the charges that were laid against Mann this morning.
“The investigation does not end here. IHIT will continue to work with the Surrey RCMP to collect evidence and find answers,” said Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT.
“This tragic event has shaken the entire community. Those in need of support are recommended to contact the Surrey RCMP’s Victim Services.”
IHIT is still trying to advance the case against Mann and are asking anyone with relevant dash cam or surveillance footage from the 9800 block of 182A Street in Surrey between 9-10:30 pm on June 16 to come forward.
Anyone with information can contact the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-4448 or by email at [email protected].
