Organizers announce changes in the works for Vancouver Island music festival

The music festival, which takes place on Vancouver Island in the summer, is going through a rebranding process and is looking for a location that allows for a permanent amphitheater.

In 2024, the festival featured headliner Gwen Stefani, along with Busta Rhymes, BBNO$, Grandson and more.

The event takes place at Laketown Ranch in the Cowichan Valley, but organizers feel attendees would benefit from a location with a permanent amphitheatre in order to expand their offerings.

Additionally, a name change is on the way for the event.

“Moving forward, our team will be transitioning away from the Shakedown name, programming model and dates so that we can be open to a wider range of opportunities throughout the season in the Laketown amphitheatre,” said the team.

“These options will include a wide array of single and multi-day events between May and September.”

They plan on providing updates on their new page, Laketown Amphitheatre, and hinted at some “big shiny announcements” coming soon.
