Police are hoping that motorists who drove through the Bridal Falls area along Hwy 1 late Tuesday night can help piece together the details of a fatal collision.
Shortly before 10 pm, Agassiz RCMP officers were called to the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) near Popkum Road, east of Chilliwack, for reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
Unfortunately, the adult male pedestrian was killed in the collision. Police say the driver remained at the scene, is cooperating with investigators and is not suspected to have been impaired.
“We are diligently working to establish the circumstances that led to this tragic incident, which claimed a life,” said Sgt. Andy Lot, Agassiz RCMP.
Anyone who witnessed the fatal collision, or has relevant dash cam footage from that area late Tuesday night, is urged to contact the Agassiz RCMP at 604-796-2211.
“We also remind pedestrians of the importance of using designated crossings and wearing bright or reflective clothing when walking near roadways at night to enhance their visibility and safety,” Lot added.
Traffic flow in the area was disrupted as police conducted an investigation, but the scene has since been cleared and Hwy 1 is fully open again.
