Mounties in Burnaby are searching for a suspect as part of an investigation into a series of indecent acts reported mainly in a local park.
According to police, five incidents were reported between Jan. 15-20, with four of them taking place in areas of Central Park and the fifth happening along the Highland Park Trail.
“In each case, the reports have involved a man committing indecent acts ranging from public nudity to masturbation,” a news release explains. “All five incidents happened during evening hours, when it was already dark outside.”

The Burnaby RCMP’s High Risk Offender Unit has been conducting interviews with the victims who reported these incidents and are working to gather additional evidence from security footage and other witnesses.
“Our investigators are piecing together information reported by the victims in each of these incidents, including suspect descriptions, to look for any similarities and develop a comprehensive picture of the person or persons responsible so we can share more information with the public,” explained Cpl. Laura Hirst.
Hist noted that the Burnaby RCMP will be upping its patrols and presence in the area until a suspect can be identified and apprehended.
“In the meantime, we want to ensure people are informed and aware of these incidents so they can remain vigilant and take precautions,” she added.
“We also want to remind park and trail users to stay aware of their surroundings, walk or run with another person or group if possible, and immediately report any suspicious behavior you may observe to police.”
Anyone with information on these indecent acts or any related incidents can contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
