Carey Price's bedroom in Kelowna wins at provincial housing awards

Carey Price -- the Montreal Canadiens' winningest goalie -- is also a winner in another realm.

The Kelowna home the NHLer shares with his wife, Angela, and their three children just won a provincial housing award in the 'best master suite over $125,000 -- new or renovation' category.

The Georgie Awards, put on by the BC branch of the Canadian Home Builders' Association, saw trophies handed out in 53 categories at a gala at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver over the weekend.

Two of those awards went to Kelowna projects -- the master suite in the Price home and the six-storey luxury condominium 450 PARC at 450 Groves Ave. in Pandosy Village.

The Price's Myra Canyon

The 'best master suite' award actually goes to Vancouver-based Vertical Grain Projects, the contractor that did the extensive exterior and interior renovation of the Price's home called 'Myra Canyon'.

The home was initially a vacation property for the family of the 2014 Olympic gold medalist, but they've turned it into their forever home with a reno that took four year and transformed it into a spacious modern farmhouse.

The design of Carey and Angela's bedroom, and the rest of the house, was fashioned by Vancouver-based designer Kyla Ray of Kyla Ray Creative.

The master suite, and the entire house, is bathed in natural light and features a calming colour palette of white, black, grey and white oak millwork.

The bedroom has dark-painted panelled walls and a white-painted slanted ceiling of board-and-batten, both surfaces creating texture and contract.

The bed features a high grey upholstered headboard.

The ensuite bathroom has a large trough sink and a separate 'wet room' divided off by glass doors with black metal trim where there's a rain shower and free-standing vessel soaking tub.

The 'principal closet' is a big walk-in with a window seat, well-organized hidden and open shelves, drawers and closets and a dressing table that doubles as a desk.

From the bedroom, huge glass, floor-to-ceiling doors open to a patio that connects to the outdoor kitchen and the rest of the home's outdoor space.

450 PARC

The other Kelowna project that won a Georgie is 450 PARC, the luxury condominium building at 450 Groves Ave. in Pandosy Village.

450 PARC contractor Kelowna-based Vineyard Developments picked up the trophy in the 'best multi-family low rise development -- up to six storeys' category.

The exterior of the building is reclaimed brick and there are just 20 large condos over six floors ranging in size from 1,918-square-feet for a two-bedroom with den unit to a 3,877-square-foot, three-bedroom, four-bathroom unit.

The design is touted as classical and cutting edge.

Prices start at $1.5 million.

The building boasts the best of both worlds to residents -- the safety and convenience of a lock-and-leave condo, but the space and privacy of a single-family home.

The building is hallway free because fob-operated elevators take residents right to their unit.

The Georgie Awards are named after explorer Captain George Vancouver, the city's namesake and the city where most of the 2025 trophy winners are from.
