(UPDATE: Oct. 5 @ 7:45 pm) - DriveBC says Hwy 3 has reopened just west of Grand Forks following an earlier vehicle fire.

The Coquihalla Highway (Hwy 5), however, remains shuttered northbound near Larson Hill due to a crash.

According to DriveBC, the next update isn't expected until around midnight.

(Original story: Oct. 5 @ 5:20 pm) - There are a pair of highway closures in the BC Interior this evening.

Both the Coquihalla Highway (Hwy 5) and Hwy 3 have shut down in the past hour.

The Hwy 5 closure in the Larson Hill area is northbound lanes only as the result of a “vehicle incident,” DriveBC explains.

“Emergency crews are on scene and an assessment is in progress,” said the service.

Motorists on Hwy 5 have indicated that the incident is a crash and two air ambulances were called to the scene.

Meanwhile, the Hwy 3 closure, which is affecting both directions of travel just west of Grand Forks, is due to a vehicle fire.

Check DriveBC for the latest information on both closures.
