DriveBC advises travellers to expect delays due to congestion.
The major route was closed for around three hours.
(Original story: Aug. 31 @ 10:30 am) - The Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) is closed in both directions near Revelstoke.
According to DriveBC, the closure is due to a vehicle incident just west of the mountain town.
DriveBC webcams show long lines of traffic on either side of the incident, with people out of their cars on the highway.
An assessment is currently in progress and there’s no estimated time of reopening yet.
At this time, DriveBC is expecting to provide its next update around 12:30 pm PT.
There is no detour available.
