Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1).
The weather alert is in effect for the major route around Rogers Pass, between Revelstoke and Golden.
The agency says 15 centimetres of snow is expected to fall over the course of the day.
“A frontal system moving across (the BC Interior) will bring snow, at times heavy, to the Rogers Pass today,” reads the alert. “The snow will taper off this evening in the wake of the cold front.”
Environment Canada warns of poor visibility in heavy snow and difficult travel conditions.
“Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions,” the alert adds.
As always, travellers are encouraged to check DriveBC for the latest highway conditions and potential closures before hitting the road.
