Mounties in the North Okanagan continue to investigate a suspicious death in Vernon last week.
Police responded to a report of a body found inside the Vernon Winter Carnival office at 3401 35th Ave. around 8:45 pm on Thursday, April 9.
“A determination of criminality has not been made at this time,” noted Cst. Chris Terleski.
While that determination has not been made, Terleski said “the circumstances surrounding the person’s death are considered suspicious in nature.”
As a result, the RCMP is turning to the public in hopes of advancing the probe.
Investigators are specifically asking for dash cam footage from any motorists who travelled along 35th Avenue between 33rd Street and 35th Street between 11 am and 9 pm on April 12.
“Footage captured in that area at that time may be valuable to the investigation,” an RCMP release explained.
Anyone with video or other information pertinent to the investigation is urged to contact the North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171.
The Vernon Winter Carnival announced on April 12, three days after the body was found, that its annual general meeting scheduled for April 20 had been cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
