Raid of Okanagan home turns up drugs, cash and stolen property

For the second time in just over a month, RCMP raided a residence in Vernon.

Police descended on the 2800 block of 35th Street around 5 pm on Wednesday after obtaining a search warrant.

Inside the home, police found substances believed to be heroin and crystal meth, as well as drug paraphernalia, an undisclosed amount of cash and stolen property.

All of the contraband was seized.

Police found 11 individuals on the property and some of them tried to flee when police arrived, but they were apprehended with the assistance of police dogs.

“Our police officers recognize the impact these types of residences have in a community,” said Cpl. Tania Finn.

“When we noticed the suspect activity at this property continued after the first search warrant in July, police resources were allocated to conduct an additional follow up investigation.”

The people associated with the property are known to police and the investigation is ongoing as the RCMP tries to return the stolen goods to their rightful owners.
