Vernon man charged in connection to 2023 murder

A Vernon man is facing a second-degree murdered charge in connection to a 2023 murder.

On Dec. 1, the BC Prosecution Service approved the charge against Dale Christopher Lloyd Babiy.

The charge stems from an investigation dating back to the summer of 2023.

On July 2, 2023, North Okanagan Mounties received a report that a man was found on the road that is used to access Proctor Lake, which is about a 35 minute northeast of Vernon.

Police later identified the man as 30-year-old Miguel Suzor.

With assistance from the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, the E-Division Major Crime Unit subsequently took over the investigation.

“The BC RCMP Major Crime Section along with several Okanagan RCMP Detachments and Southeast District specialized units contributed to the collection of evidence and eventual charge being laid in this investigation,” the RCMP said in their news release.

Babiy remains in custody.

A date of his court appearance was not included in the release.
