An early start to wildfire season continues to be felt in various parts of the BC Interior.
Late Sunday, BC Wildfire Service crews were dispatched to a newly-discovered wildfire west of Cache Creek and Lillooet.
The Truax Creek wildfire, near Carpenter Lake, was estimated at 50 hectares around 10 pm Sunday, which is the most recent BCWS update.
“At this time, the fire is suspected to be human caused,” a BCWS post explained.
Crews reported rank three to four fire behaviour late Sunday night, which means a moderate- to highly-vigorous surface fire with some torching.
Of course, the biggest concern for wildfire crews in BC right now is the Parker Lake blaze near Fort Nelson.
According to the BCWS, the 5,280-hectare fire is burning just two kilometres northwest of Fort Nelson and there are fears the wind could push it into town today.
The entire community of Fort Nelson, made up of around 3,500 people, was told to evacuate on Friday.
