It was a special day for former NHL player and Kamloops Blazers alumni Chris Murray as he was named the Minor Midget Coach of the Year.
In one season with the club, Murray led the Thompson Blazers Minor Midget to a 14-11-2-3 record, good enough for fourth place in the league.
BC Hockey wrote that Murray helped the Blazers become one of the most improved teams from the start to the end of the season.
"They should name this the ‘Coaching Team of the Year’ Neil Pilon, Daryl Sydor, and Dr. Mark Fenrich were invaluable in developing an environment rich with opportunity for growth," wrote Murray in a tweet. "That’s to all our players for inviting us into their journey. Ownership+Accountability=Trust."
