If you looked at this matchup before the season, it would have been described as one of the biggest David vs Goliath tales imaginable.
While the Whitecaps are still a notable underdog entering today’s final, there is certainly belief in their locker room, among their fans and around the soccer world that they could emerge victorious.
In fact, before Müller even arrived in Vancouver, the Whitecaps defeated Messi and Miami twice during the Concacaf Champions Cup semi-final during their storybook run during the summer.

Vancouver beat Miami 2-0 at BC Place before clinching the two-game series with a convincing 3-1 win at Chase Stadium.
While Vancouver ended up getting blown out 5-0 by Mexico’s Cruz Azul in the Concacaf Champions Cup final, another win against Miami today would be the biggest in Whitecaps franchise history.
If you want to watch the MLS Cup Final, it will be broadcast on TSN and streamed on Apple TV.
