PHOTOS/VIDEO: Humboldt Broncos season opener an emotional and memorable night

Canadians from coast-to-coast, as well as hockey fans from the United States and beyond, tuned into a junior A hockey game on Wednesday night.

When’s the last time you can say that happened?

The reality is, it probably hasn’t, which is part of the reason Wednesday night was so special.

From the community of Humboldt to everyone involved with the TSN broadcast to the players on the Broncos and the Nipawin Hawks, there was no shortage of people that made it memorable.

TSN’s pre-game show was full of great interviews, features and insight, aided by an all-star broadcast crew that you’d expect for an NHL playoff game.

Despite a tough 2-1 loss, the game itself was quite entertaining and the Broncos didn’t disappoint, mustering up 40 shots and scoring the opening goal on a nice passing play.

And finally, the post-game ceremony was well done and quite emotional, surely opening tear ducts across Canada and beyond.

If you missed it last night, hopefully you set your PVR, but here are a few snapshots from what was a truly special night to kick off the hockey season.
