Patriots win Super Bowl LIII over LA Rams in lowest scoring bout in Superbowl history

Tom Brady is happy to slide on his sixth Super Bowl ring and establish the Patriots as three-time Super Bowl champions in as many years following a New England Patriots victory over the Los Angeles Rams in the 53rd Superbowl in Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday.

Despite Tom Brady’s famous capabilities and the Rams’ multiple offensive awards given to them at the eighth NFL Honours –– including Offensive Line of the Year and Unstoppable Performance of the Year to quarterback Jared Goff –– the game only had a combined 16 points and was the lowest scoring game in Super Bowl history.

The first quarter proved the defensive ability of both teams, ending at 0-0. The scoring opened with a 42-yard field goal from Stephen Gostkowski, giving the Patriots a 3-0 lead in the second quarter.

Despite beautiful offensive talent, only three points had been scored before the half.

Greg Zuerlein went kick-for-kick with the Pats, kicking a 53-yard field goal to tie the game late in the third, tying it up as they headed into the fourth.

It wasn't until New England had possession in deep that the first touchdown of the game was scored, with Sony Michel ramming through Los Angeles' defences in the fourth quarter with seven minutes on the clock.

Looking for a fourth quarter touchdown to tie the game, Goff threw up a prayer but was answered with an interception at the hands of Stephon Gilmore near the Patriots end zone.

Tom Brady and the Patriots came out on top, adding another three points to stretch their thin lead and finish the game 13-3, adding another ring to Brady's sparking knuckles and solidifying the Patriots as Super Bowl champions for the third year in a row.

Julian Edelman picked up Most Valuable Player for his offensive efforts.

Edelman and Brady connected eight times in the first half, contributing to his game-high 10 catches and 141 yards.
