Thompson Rivers University made a big pickup for the 2019-20 men's volleyball season as they sign a new recruit on Tuesday.
Calgary-born Dylan Van Spankeren announced his commitment to the WolfPack at the libero position.
WolfPack head coach Pat Hennelly was pleasantly surprised with the addition as he had no plans of picking up a libero this season.

“We actually weren’t making a libero a priority in this recruiting class, “said Hennelly. “ We had holes in the middle and on the outside replacing some of the offense we will be losing in the next two years. We still have Landon Currie and Kyle Taylor at that position, But Dylan was very persistent about coming here. I vetted him through some colleagues in the Calgary club system who spoke very highly of him. “
Prior to joining the Pack, Van Spankeren played with fellow WolfPack recruit Kobby Nyarko on the Canuck U18 team as well as Team Alberta U16.
“I am super excited to be joining the WolfPack, “said Van Spankeren. “They are a great group of guys and have a phenomenal coaching and support staff. I am super excited to see how far we can make it next year.”
