The Humboldt Broncos season/home opener will be broadcasted nationally tonight

The country asked and TSN answered.

There was no shortage of people asking for the Humboldt Broncos season opener, the team’s first game since the tragic, fatal bus crash on April 6, to be broadcasted on T.V.

As a result, when the team takes the ice in front of a packed crowd at Elgar Petersen Arena in Humboldt tonight, the entire country will be watching on TSN.

It won’t be a half-assed broadcast either, as TSN has sent an all-star crew to cover the game, one you might expect for an important NHL playoff game.

Chris Cuthbert will do the play-by-play with Ray Ferraro providing colour commentary, while James Duthie, Bob McKenzie, Ryan Rishaug and Frank Seravalli will be a part of the broadcast as well.

Things will kick off with an hour long pregame show at 4:30 p.m. PT on TSN before an on ice ceremony to pay tribute to the victims of the April 6 crash.

At 5:30 p.m. PT, the game will kick off with the Broncos taking on the Nipawin Hawks, the same team they were travelling to face for a playoff game on that fateful April night.

It will surely be an emotional night in Humboldt, but thanks to TSN it’ll be one that Canadians can share together.

Later this year, TSN and CTV will also be broadcasting a documentary featuring families affected by the crash and the community of Humboldt.
