Weather records began being kept in Salmon Arm in 1893.
The following year, the Shuswap community hit a high of 14.4°C on Feb. 27, a mark that sat as Salmon Arm’s all-time high for that day for 132 long years.
That historic mark was broken Friday.

It wasn’t eclipsed by much, as Salmon Arm ended the work week with a high of 14.5°C to break the 132-year-old record set in 1894.
To put it in perspective, that’s only 27 years after Canada became a country.
While Salmon Arm was the only community in British Columbia to break a daily temperature record on Friday, it sure was a notable one.
