Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the region.

“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain,” reads the alert.

“When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.”

The alert begins at the US border and goes all the way north to Salmon Arm, including Vernon, Kelowna, Penticton and a western portion of the Kootenays.

Up-to-date conditions can be found online at this link.
