The sun has been shining across the province all weekend, and with it, numerous areas set new temperature records on Saturday.
In total, 21 temperature records were broken and one was tied on Saturday, with a handful of benchmarks from 1916 on Vancouver Island falling.
Vernon nearly broke a record from 1915 as the temperature reached 33.3℃, tying the 110-year-old record.
The hottest new record was set in the Lytton area as the community experienced a high of 38.6℃, surpassing the 37.8℃ mark set in 1958.
The largest difference between the old and new benchmarks was experienced in the Gibsons area. The new record of 30.2℃ is 3.3℃ warmer than the previous high experienced a decade ago.
