There won’t be meatballs, unfortunately, but it will soon be a whole lot easier to get IKEA furniture in Kelowna.
The company’s new plan and order point in Kelowna, announced back in September, is set to open at 103-1500 Banks Rd. on Wednesday, April 8.

While it isn’t a full warehouse, the plan and order point will allow people to make one-on-one appointments with IKEA experts to plan, design and purchase home furnishings.
They’ll be able to order those products to be either delivered right to their home or to the Banks Road IKEA location for pick-up.
Although larger items will need to be ordered, the plan and order point location will have a limited number of smaller IKEA products available for immediate purchase and takeaway.

Plan and order points are IKEA’s solution to cut down travel time for customers in markets that aren’t quite big enough for a full warehouse.
“Currently, the nearest IKEA customer meeting point is a four-hour drive for residents in the Thompson-Okanagan region,” a media release explains, adding that the Swedish retailer is “looking forward to meeting its newest neighbours and joining this vibrant BC Interior community.”

In 2025, IKEA Canada made all online and in-store planning services free of charge for customers, as well as lowered delivery and in-home planning costs.
Once it opens next week, the Kelowna plan and order point will be IKEA’s 12th in Canada and second in British Columbia after Abbotsford.
