Mounties in Salmon Arm managed to track down a suspect after a man arrived at the local RCMP detachment on Sunday with a stab wound.
With two witnesses to support his story, the man told police that he had been stabbed during an altercation at a traffic light on the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) near Hwy 97B.
According to an RCMP release, he had a “significant laceration” and was transported from the detachment to hospital by ambulance.
Investigators quickly identified a suspect vehicle, located it and arrested the alleged driver, 52-year-old Calvin Pavey.
On Monday, the Salmon Arm residents was charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of aggravated assault.
“Pavey was held for a bail hearing and was released on conditions,” the RCMP release noted. “Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident.”
Police continue to investigate the incident and are asking any additional witnesses, or those with relevant dash cam footage from the area, to contact the detachment.
