So there was a new release this week that I’m incredibly excited about, but it’ll have to wait until next weekend to be featured in the beer column.
That’s because I promised earlier in the week that this weekend’s column would be the full list of winners from the recent 39th annual Okanagan Fest of Ale in Penticton.
In case you missed it, the winner of the judge’s choice Best In Show was Dockside Dunkel from Lakesider Brewing in West Kelowna. Cannery Brewing’s Naramata Nut Brown Ale earned an honourable mention for that top honour.
Hwy 97 Brewing in Penticton won the People’s Choice Best Beer award for their Triple Berry Cream Wheat Ale, while the People’s Choice awards for Best Cider went to the Mango Passionfruit Cider from Summerland Heritage Cider Co.
The judges were also responsible for choosing winners in several classes, which were dominated by BC Interior breweries. The lone exception was a Vancouver brewery that claimed top pale ale.

Here’s a full list of Best In Class winners that you can look for during your next stop at the liquor store or visit to one of these breweries:
