An investigation that began nearly three years ago has led to multiple charges being laid against a Vancouver doctor.
The investigation began in March 2023 after the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) learned that a 17-year-old girl had allegedly been sexually assaulted by a doctor at a medical clinic in Chinatown.
According to the VPD, the alleged offences took place on multiple occasions between May 2018 and December 2022.
During the probe, investigators learned of similar accusations involving the same doctor involving a 14-year-old girl who visited a medical clinic in Burnaby in December 2015.
The VPD announced today that Hau Man Lee, 65, was charged on Nov. 28, 2025, with the following:
The VPD says Lee, who is a Vancouver resident, is currently out on bail and is still a practicing physician in BC. He’s not permitted to medically treat anyone under the age of 16 without another adult present.
Investigators are urging anyone else who may have had contact with Lee to come forward if they wish to report a crime.
“It is always a personal decision for anyone to come forward and report a sexual assault,” said VPD Supt. Dale Weidman. “We understand, for some, that decision may take time.”
Wiedman added that anyone who comes forward will be “met with care and compassion,” and receive trauma-informed support through the investigative process.
