North Vancouver RCMP ticketed a driver who got a tad creative when buckling in for safety.
In an X post Monday, local Mounties said an officer stopped a vehicle where a ratchet strap was being used as a seatbelt as the actual one wasn’t working.
Cpl. Mansoor Sahak, spokesperson for North Vancouver RCMP, said it happened Feb. 19 during afternoon rush hour on Main Street and Mountain Highway.

The driver was ticketed for operating a vehicle with an inoperative seatbelt, while the passenger was ticketed for not wearing one.
“Creative? Sure. Safe? Not even close,” police said in X post.
“We’ll give them an A for creativity, but an F for following basic safety rules... Not quite the kind of ‘restraint system’ we’re looking for."
