Driver ticketed after hitting elderly BC man walking dog, animal does not survive

An elderly man was hospitalized Tuesday night after being hit by a vehicle while walking his dog in Quesnel.

Unfortunately, his dog did not survive the incident.

Police say the pedestrian collision happened at the intersection of Flamingo Street and Pentland Crescent around 9 pm.

According to the RCMP, the 78 year old and his pet were crossing the road in a pedestrian crosswalk when they were struck.

The man’s injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.

The SUV driver remained on scene and cooperated with police, but was ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian and driving with an expired licence.
