A Lillooet couple is celebrating a $2.5 million lottery win after matching all six numbers in the Jan. 31, 2026 Lotto 6/49 draw.
Rene L. and Brittany C. checked their ticket on PlayNow.com and discovered they had won half of the $5 million Classic Jackpot, which was split with another winning ticket purchased in Quebec.
“My first thought was, ‘No!’ and then I jumped up and showed Brittany,” Rene said. “She thought I was playing a trick on her and wanted to go to the store to check if it was real.”
The couple took the ticket to the Pharmasave on Main Street in Lillooet, where it had been purchased, to confirm the win.
“It feels unreal,” Brittany said.

The couple said they have shared the news with a small group of family and friends and marked the occasion with a celebratory dinner.
Among their immediate plans are paying off their mortgage and beginning the search for a new home. They said the biggest change will be the financial flexibility the win provides.
“We can enjoy life and spend more time with our kids,” Brittany said.
According to the B.C. Lottery Corporation, players in the province redeemed more than $71 million in Lotto 6/49 prizes in 2025.
Lotto 6/49 is drawn nationwide every Wednesday and Saturday.
The game includes both the fixed $5 million Classic Jackpot and the Gold Ball Draw, which offers either a guaranteed $1 million prize or a growing jackpot starting at $10 million.
