A search is underway after a missing Nanaimo man was seen entering the water from a B.C. Ferries vessel Monday evening.
Nanaimo RCMP say the adult male was reported missing after leaving his residence on Feb. 9, 2026, and failing to return.
Police checked several locations he was known to frequent and alerted partner agencies to be on the lookout for his vehicle. Later that evening, the vehicle was located aboard a B.C. Ferries vessel at the Tsawwassen terminal.
A review of onboard video footage showed a person matching the missing man’s description entering the water while the vessel was underway, RCMP said.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC), along with RCMP West Coast Marine Services, launched a search of the surrounding waters.
Nanaimo RCMP are leading the investigation and are working with BC Ferries, Delta Police Department, Gabriola RCMP and federal marine units.
Family members have been notified. The search remains ongoing.
Police say no further details will be released at this time.
