A man was shot and killed in Abbotsford on Monday night.
An Abbotsford Police (AbbyPD) release says officers responded to a report of a shooting at the Whatcom Road Park and Ride shortly after 11 pm.
Police noted that the Whatcom Park and Ride “currently hosts a large homeless encampment.”
Officers secured the area upon arrival late Monday night and found a victim suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries.
He was rushed to hospital, but did not survive his injuries.
“The investigation remains in its early stages, and additional resources have been deployed to determine the full circumstances of what is believed to be a targeted incident,” the AbbyPD release says.
At this time, no arrests have been made and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is taking over the probe from the AbbyPD’s Major Crime Unit.
