Police search for driver after another BC highway overpass strike

The BC Highway Patrol is investigating after yet another highway overpass strike in the Lower Mainland.

The latest such incident happened shortly before 4 pm Tuesday in the westbound lanes of Hwy 1 between Glover Road and 232nd Street in Langley.

It’s the same CP Rail overpass that was struck in the other direction last week.

According to a BCHP release, an auto transport trailer struck the overpass this time around.

“The driver did not stop at the scene and has not yet come forward to the police,” says Cpl. Michael McLaughlin. “If the truck driver won’t call us, we need witnesses and dash camera video to identify the truck and driver.”

It’s a legal obligation for the driver of any vehicle involved in a collision that may potentially cause property damage to report the incident to police or the property owner.

Anyone who witnessed Tuesday afternoon’s strike, or anyone with relevant dash cam footage, is urged to contact the BCHP’s Burnaby branch at 604-526-9744.
