According to an Avalanche Canada report, a lone snowboarder triggered “a very large wind slab avalanche” near the ridgetop of the Anniversary Glacier.
A companion rescue was initiated by a witness and the subject was found in the afternoon by Pemberton Search and Rescue.
“Unfortunately, they did not survive,” the report solemnly confirmed.

The report noted that the slide was 100m wide and ran for 1,500m. Its depth varied between 50-200cm with an average of 150cm.
Five days prior, a heli-skier was killed in an avalanche while skiing near Revelstoke.
