A West Vancouver teen was likely in hot water when he got home on Feb. 13, 2026.
According to the BC Highway Patrol, the 19-year-old driver was driving too fast on Hwy 1 at the Gagliardi Way onramp and lost control of his mom’s vehicle.
The BCHP was alerted to the situation by an ambulance driver, who reported the speeding vehicle and muddy result.

“The driver had lost traction in the wet conditions and taken his mom’s car deep into the mud,” explained a BCHP release.
Fortunately, neither the driver or his 19-year-old friend were injured, but mom’s Hyundai had to be towed from the scene.
“The driver will have to figure out his own way to break the news to mom,” the release added.
Along with the costs associated with the tow, the teen was also handed a $167 ticket for speed relative to conditions.
