Police are appealing to the public for information in a concerning sexual assault investigation in the Abbotsford area.
On Feb. 27, a woman came forward to Abbotsford Police (AbbyPD) to report that was driven to a wooded area against her will and sexually assaulted. The alleged incident happened on Feb. 10.
Information gathered by investigators so far indicates that four South Asian men “picked up” the woman in the area of Cannon and Bevan avenues.
The men, reportedly driving a white Lincoln Navigator or something similar, refused to let the woman leave the vehicle as they took her to Sumas Mountain, where the alleged sexual assault took place.
AbbyPD did not provide any information on how or why the woman was picked up, but did note that it’s believed to be a targeted incident.
“The investigation remains in its early stages and is being led by AbbyPD's Sex Crimes Unit,” a media release explained.
Police provided the following suspect descriptions:
Investigators are urging anyone who was in the area of Cannon and Bevan avenues from 6-10 pm or the Sumas Mountain area between 9 pm and midnight on Feb. 10 to come forward if they witnessed suspicious activity or captured something of note on their dash cams.
