Olympics Day 11: Women’s team pursuit goes back-to-back for Canada’s 3rd gold medal

Four years later, they’ve topped the podium again.

Ivanie Blondin, Valérie Maltais and Isabelle Weidemann won their second straight Olympic gold medal in the women’s team pursuit.

After winning at Beijing 2022, they successfully defended their title in today’s final at Milano Cortina 2026.

Not only is it Canada’s third gold medal of the Games, it’s the third consecutive day they’ve had a podium-topping finish.

It was a great day for Canada’s curling teams as well. Brad Jacobs’ rink beat Great Britain 9-5 to move to 6-1 in the round robin and lock up a semifinal spot. Rachel Homan’s rink knocked off previously-undefeated Sweden for their third straight victory, which keeps their medal hopes alive.

Canada’s hockey teams were not in action Tuesday, but the men now know they’re taking on the Czechs in Wednesday’s semifinal after Czechia beat Latvia 3-2 in the quarterfinal today. The Canadian women take on their American foes in the gold medal game on Thursday.

It could have been a medal day for Canadian snowboarders, but the finals for both men’s and women’s slopestyle were postponed until Wednesday due to weather.

Canada will enter Wednesday’s action at Milano Cortina 2026 with 12 total medals – three gold, four silver and five bronze. Along with podium hopefuls like Mark McMorris in snowboarding, they also have several chances to win medals in speed skating on day 12.
