There’s a good chance you got to know Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier through the Netflix docuseries Glitter & Gold: Ice Dancing.
It sure felt like the pair had extra fanfare heading into Milano Cortina 2026 and they finally delivered on the Olympic stage.
After 15 years of skating together, the Canadian duo are finally Olympic medallists after capturing bronze in the ice dance competition on Wednesday.

“It’s been such a rewarding journey, not necessarily rewarding in all the ways that we anticipated, but that’s what makes life so beautiful,” Poirier said after things were all said and done.
“That’s what makes sports so beautiful is it takes you on a road you can’t anticipate, and you live the fullness of humanity through sport all the time, so I think we’re just so grateful for all of the incredible moments we’ve had through skating and through ice dance.”
A performance worth watching again and again! 🔁⛸️

Elsewhere in Olympic action on Wednesday, Canada earned several other top 10 finishes but were unable to add any other medals to the count.
In curling, Brad Jacobs’ rink got underway in the men’s competition and managed a 7-6 win over Germany in the first of nine round robin games.
There’s plenty of exciting team action on the way on Thursday, as day six will see both Canada’s men’s and women’s hockey teams in action, as well as Rachel Homan’s rink in the women’s curling competition.
