There were no medals for Canada on day seven of Milano Cortina 2026.
More chances to hit the podium await this weekend, but there were still some notable happenings and news items for Team Canada on Friday.

5-1 WIN over Switzerland 🥅 https://t.co/3qxqRnaOJG
Connor McDavid had another three-point performance as Canada knocked off Switzerland 5-1 in men’s hockey action. Canada is expected to beat France on Sunday to finish atop their group before the knockout round begins.
In curling, Rachel Homan’s rink was knocked off by the Americans, but Brad Jacobs’ moved to 2-0 in the event with a win over Sweden. The most notable part of the match, however, was a heated exchange between Canada’s Marc Kennedy and Sweden’s Oskar Eriksson in the ninth end.
Now. As for the curling controversy.

Trying to get back to it. Some things happened at the figure skating.
But here are some postgame quotes from Marc Kennedy, who swore at Oskar. And addressed it after the game. pic.twitter.com/I6FDzu4o3B
On what was a quieter day for Canadian athletes in Italy, there was some positive news for fans to soak up. Mark McMorris was cleared to compete in men’s snowboard slopestyle. The popular snowboarder was injured in a practice run and forced to drop out of men’s snowboard big air.
Canadian figure skating duo Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps have also arrived in Italy. There was uncertainty whether they’d compete due to an injury Stellato-Dudek suffered just prior to the Games.
Canada’s best chance at a medal on Saturday will be Will Dandjinou in the men’s short track speed skating 1,500m race. He’s the top ranked competitor in the world at that distance and will be hoping to deliver the country’s first gold medal of Milano Cortina 2026.
