A snowfall warning has been in place for the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) since Wednesday and it was renewed this morning.
Environment Canada (EC) says an additional 15 centimetres of “heavy snow” will hit the Rogers Pass area.
“In addition, gusty winds will bring periods of local blowing snow along the route,” the weather alert says.
According to EC, travel will likely be challenging and visibility will be reduced at times.
“Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions,” the alert adds.
Snowfall is expected to taper off to flurries by tonight.
