Environment Canada is warning the travelling public about periods of heavy snow expected to hit the Rogers Pass area.
The weather agency says a strong Pacific low pressure system will track across the BC Interior over the next 24 hours or so.

Snowfall will begin this morning and intensify in the afternoon, with 10-15 centimetres expected before it shifts to rain or wet snow this evening.
It will transition back to snow after midnight and into Wednesday morning, bringing an additional 5-15 cm of snow.
In total, Hwy 1 could receive up to 30 cm of snow through the Rogers Pass area over the duration of the weather event.
“Gusty winds will develop Tuesday night, leading to localized areas of reduced visibility in blowing snow,” Environment Canada adds.
The alert says “travel will likely be challenging” and weather in the mountains can change suddenly to produce hazardous driving conditions.
There's also a snowfall warning in place for the slighty-lesser-travelled Hwy 3 through Paulson Summit and Kootenay Pass.
A frontal system will bring 15-25 cm of snowfall on Tuesday, Environment Canada warns, which will be followed by gusty winds in the wake of the cold front.
As always, you can check DriveBC at any time for the latest highway conditions and closures.
