‘Travel will likely be challenging’: Snowfall warning issued for Hwy 5, Hwy 3

Environment Canada has issued weather alerts for a pair of major routes connecting the Lower Mainland and BC Interior.

Both the Coquihalla (Hwy 5) and Hope-Princeton (Hwy 3) are covered in the snowfall warning issued this morning.

The forecast is calling for 15-20 centimetres of snow on both routes and the confidence in that prediction is listed as “high.”

“A convective system will bring periods of snow today,” the weather alert reads. “Travel will likely be challenging.”

Motorists are advised that visibility will likely be reduced at times and weather in the mountains can “change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
