It’s going to get blustery in the southern Interior.
In a special weather statement, Environment Canada says a “vigorous low pressure system” will track across the region on Tuesday.
“Strong southwesterly winds gusting to 80 km/h will develop late Tuesday afternoon and peak in the evening,” the alert reads. “Winds will ease near midnight as the low departs.”
It’s a wide-ranging alert that includes the entire Fraser Canyon, Nicola and Thompson regions, along with several central Interior communities to the north of Kamloops.
Major highway routes like the Coquihalla, all the way from Hope to Kamloops, and the Okanagan Connector are included as well.
Environment Canada is warning residents of potential power outages and travellers of difficult conditions in the mountains.
